Alumni Council
The council facilitates an informed, representative exchange of information and sentiment between alumni and the College.
In Service to Dartmouth
The council strives to represent all constituencies within the alumni community. Consider how you can get involved and be a voice for fellow alumni.
Meet The President
Cheryl Shepard '90 is president of the Alumni Council for 2024–25.
Cheryl Shepard led an active student life at Dartmouth, playing trombone in jazz band and serving on student assembly and as president of Delta Gamma sorority. A government and Chinese language major, she did an FSP in Beijing and recalls practicing language skills with Chinese students against the backdrop of the student-led democracy movement that tragically ended several years later in Tiananmen Square.
As president of the Alumni Council, she wants to take on the tough problems while shining a light on all the positive things that are happening on the campus in support of President Beilock’s five pillars of initiatives.
Cheryl lives in Winchester, Massachusetts with her husband, Andrew Shepard ’89, and two children attending college. She is the senior marketing and communications lead at Atrius Health, an organization providing health care to three-quarters of a million patients in the Boston area.

Mission and Responsibilities
The Alumni Council’s mission is to sustain a fully informed, representative, and engaged exchange of information and sentiment between alumni and the institution. To achieve its mission, the Alumni Council delves into the state of the institution and its future goals, communicating that knowledge to alumni. Council members also nominate alumni candidates to serve on the Dartmouth Board of Trustees, and in all ways recognize, encourage, and facilitate alumni service.
Alumni Council members annually nominate and select a John Rassias Award honree. Inspired by its namesake's unmatched loyalty to alumni, the award recognizes current or retired faculty members who go above and beyond to remain connected to Dartmouth graduates.
