Treasures of Peru

Silvia Spitta is Robert E. Maxwell 1923 Professor of Arts and Sciences and Chair of the Spanish and Portuguese department. She also teaches in the Comparative Literature and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Her areas of interest include material and visual culture, contemporary Latin American literature and culture; and US Latino/a writings and border culture. A prolific writer, Professor Spitta published “Between Two Waters: Narratives of Transculturation in Latin America” in 1995 (paperback 2006) and “Misplaced Objects: Migrating Collections and Recollections in Europe and the Americas” (Houston: Texas Up 2009) which won the ASU transdisciplinary book award in 2010.
