More than 3,000 families and guests visited Hanover for Family Weekend, welcoming families of the Classes of 2025 and 2028 to campus. The weekend featured a robust schedule of events, providing opportunities for families and friends to connect, explore, and engage with their students and the rest of the Dartmouth community.

An array of activities filled the weekend, including student-led campus tours and special tours of the Orozco murals. The Book Arts Workshop offered families a chance to learn about bookmaking techniques, while 18 campus partners set up informational booths at an Open House Expo. Families had the chance attend information sessions on a variety of topics and even “go to class” themselves, learning from some of Dartmouth’s distinguished faculty members. Later, families attended a welcome reception where Interim Deans of the College Anne Hudak and Eric Ramsey and Director of Family Support and Engagement Bridget Colacchio gave remarks. The evening concluded with a rousing karaoke session at Collis Center.

Families also had an opportunity to attend a conversation with President Sian Leah Beilock, who shared insights about her first year as president and her vision for the institution in a conversation with Trustee Odette Harris ’91 P’28.

Saturday featured the Family Weekend Cookout, where The Refinery provided a classic New England barbeque experience, and families enjoyed activities at the Hood Museum of Art and performances by a cappella and dance groups, highlighting Dartmouth's vibrant arts scene.

The final day began with a presentation on the First-Year Residential Experience, with families enjoying breakfast with house professors and learning about the house community experience. Finally, the weekend concluded serenely with an optional mindfulness retreat focusing on self-awareness and stress management techniques.

Overall, Family Weekend 2024 provided a rich blend of educational and social experiences, reinforcing the strong sense of community for many Dartmouth students, families, and alumni of all ages.
