AI Talk by Professor Anil Doshi '98

Anil Doshi

Professor Anil Doshi (D’98) will discuss some of his recent research on generative AI applications to work and decision-making. He will also discuss framework that organizations can use to consider how to implement a generative AI strategy within their organizations, called the human–AI work task tensor. After a brief overview of academic work and findings, we will hold a discussion to assess attendees’ reactions, plans, and strategies toward generative AI in their organization.

Anil Doshi is an assistant professor in the Strategy and Entrepreneurship group at the UCL School of Management. His research examines how data and information environments affect actor behaviors. He focuses on environments that arise from emerging technologies with broad societal impact, including generative AI, social media, and commercial space. In his research on generative AI, he studies how new data, information, and content produced by AI models affect different areas of human activity, including creativity, decision-making, knowledge creation, and work. He has received awards for his research from prominent professional organizations, including the Academy of Management and the Strategic Management Society.

Anil teaches data analytics and strategy to students across degree programs. He has taught programs on AI, analytics, and digital transformation in different executive education programs. He also teaches the core data analytics class to in the UCL MBA program and a core Strategy and Analytics module to students in the MSc Business Analytics. Anil has won numerous awards for his teaching, including the Best Teacher Award in the UCL MBA (for three consecutive years) and the MSc Business Analytics programs, multiple nominations for the Student Choice Awards, and the Inspirational Educator Award in the PKU-UCL MBA.

Anil received his doctorate from Harvard Business School. Prior to graduate school, Anil worked over ten years in industry. In finance, he worked at Donaldson, Lufkin, & Jenrette and Ahab Capital Management. He also worked at financial services and technology startups. He received his bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College.
