Dartmouth Class of 1989 Raises Funds for New Student Residential Hall

Ask an alum for a favorite Dartmouth memory, and you will likely hear a story from their residential student life—the campus “homes” where they shared rooms, met other students, began lifetime friendships, and found welcome in the communities that were being created.
In her inaugural address, President Sian Leah Beilock identified investment in housing as a major Dartmouth priority, stating that safe, quality housing can help foster wellness, social connection, and belonging for its residents.
In a bold response to this need, the Class of 1989 is taking up the challenge of funding an entire student residential hall—to be named the Class of 1989 Hall—something no class has accomplished before.
An anonymous group of ’89s has generously committed $10 million toward funding the new residence hall on campus, and now classmates are working to raise a final $5 million—for a total of $15 million—by December 31.

Every ’89 who contributes $89 or more to the Class of 1989 Gift for the Residential Facilities Project at Dartmouth College will have their name added to a wall of donors in the building. And in the spirit of inclusion, class funds will be used to add the names of classmates who have passed away.
