Plan Today, Impact Tomorrow
Remembering Dartmouth or other nonprofits you care about in your will or trust can reduce your estate taxes and will benefit future generations. You can revise your gift at any time should your circumstances change.
If you have a will or trust, or are planning to create one soon, you can name Dartmouth as a beneficiary. Your gift then passes directly to Dartmouth after your death. You can even designate Dartmouth as a beneficiary of your IRA, life insurance policy, or retirement plan without a will.
How It Works
- Include the provisions of your gift to Dartmouth in your will or trust
- Name Dartmouth as a beneficiary of your IRA, life insurance policy, or retirement plan

Meet the Raghavans
Karen Hung Raghavan ’99 and Sharat Raghavan ’98 are active members of the Dartmouth alumni community. They’re also Bartlett Tower Society members, having pledge a bequest to Dartmouth. Why did they chose to remember Dartmouth in their wills?
“Part of it was thinking about how to make a more meaningful contribution to the College, and this was an easy way to do that,” says Sharat. “This feels like a gift with more emotional meaning.” For Karen, the bequest acknowledges the transformative impact of Dartmouth in her life. “Through our planned gift,” she says, “I hope Dartmouth can be as significant in other people’s lives as it was for me.”
