Join us Saturday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m. for our All Rachmaninoff Season Finale! The Springfield Symphony Orchestra Classical Season comes to its Grand Finale with a special selection of Sergei Rachmaninoff orchestral works featuring internationally renowned pianist Misha Dichter. The program will include 3 Études-Tableaux, Op. 33; Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Op. 43; and Symphonic Dances, Op. 45.
Prior to the evening's concert from 6:30 to 7 p.m., concert-goers will have the opportunity to attend Classical Conversations, a half-hour informal discussion that allows a lively and insightful exchange with guest lecturer Steven R. Swayne. Steven R. Swayne is an award-winning author and professor at Dartmouth College. He has taught at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and University of California-Berkeley and is an accomplished pianist. Swayne has published two music biographies, winning the 2012 ASCAP Nicolas Slonimsky Award for Outstanding Musical Biography for his work Orpheus in Manhattan: William Schuman and the Shaping of America's Musical Life.
