Beautiful fall weather greeted more than 3,200 parents and family members as they flocked to campus for Family Weekend. The annual celebration welcomes first-year students and their families to the Dartmouth community and gives graduating seniors and their families a chance to reflect and relish in all the campus has to offer—together, one last time.
The ’26 and ’29 families enjoyed two-and-a-half days of seemingly nonstop programming. Attendees seized the opportunity to tour campus, learn about the Orozco murals with Hood Museum of Art docents, and guided tours through the historic cemetery behind the Class of 1953 Commons. They went “back to class” with special faculty lectures from Roopika Risam learning about the deep history of data, and Dr. Erich Osterberg shared some good news stories about climate change. Colleagues from 10 different departments offered informational sessions on a variety of topics, and families and students also swung by the Book Arts Workshop to create their very own Family Weekend 2025 custom poster.
Family Weekend attendees were free to explore a campus-wide open house on Friday, with nearly 30 campus partners, a Hood Museum of Art Open House on Saturday, and a welcome reception with welcoming remarks by Anne Hudak, Interim Dean of Undergraduate Students Affairs, and Bridget Colacchio, Director of Family Support.
Students and their families also had the chance to hear directly from President Sian Leah Beilock ’76a in an engaging session moderated by trustee and parent Neal Katyal ’91 P’24’28.
But families didn’t just learn a lot—they had fun, too. Attendees enjoyed performances from the College organist, Henry Danaher ’08, the a cappella and dance groups, the cheerleading, dance team, and the marching band, and even got to participate in a late-night game show night at Collis Center. They mingled and dined at community breakfasts, house community receptions, and local Hanover staples. Their time on campus was peppered with chances to cheer on Big Green athletics, with the women’s tennis Fall Foliage fest and club sports running throughout the weekend.
2025 proved to be another successful Family Weekend. With several senior leaders, hundreds of campus partners, and thousands of loving students, parents, and families, it proved to be the perfect opportunity to learn, connect, and enjoy what truly makes Dartmouth special.
