The Dartmouth Club of Orange County

The Dartmouth Club of Orange County had quite an impressive year.

The club planned 13 events, collaborating with other Dartmouth organizations, tapping local alumni expertise, and reaching out to Ivy+ peers to create innovative and successful programming. Orange County alumni and parents learned from a showing of the film “Urban Rez,” co-sponsored by the Native American Alumni Association of Dartmouth and the Dartmouth Club of Los Angeles; were fascinated by a tour of the Orange County Water District’s Groundwater Replenishment System given by a Dartmouth ’99; networked at a fall get together with more than one hundred Ivy+ alumni; and participated in a 5k run in honor of a Dartmouth ’93.

The club’s remarkable year is all the more notable because it was also a year of rebuilding. The new board, led by Christian Stauss ’91 and encouraged by past presidents Mae Hueston ’86 and Marlene Dandler ’98, involved new leaders and included young alumni.  Simple but effective techniques made a real difference — for example, the treasurer of the club personally called those who expressed interest in the club to discuss how to best utilize their talents. With the increase in leadership, the club also enhanced its connection to alumni and parents by sending consistent club email updates and launching a new website in iModules.

To our incredible club in Southern California, we say bravo!
