Moosilauke Hiking and Flag Relay to Hanover
The ’79 Flag Relay is the first-ever team relay to carry the '79 flag from Moosilauke Ravine Lodge to Hanover (54 miles) along the Appalachian Trail. Actual hiking starts Tuesday morning, June 16 and ends Wednesday late morning/early afternoon, June 17. Participants are encouraged to stay at the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge on Monday night, June 15 and have dinner there. We have reserved 20 bunks in the Class of '66 Lodge. It promises to be festive.
The Relay will involve teams of classmates hiking 2-5 miles in relay fashion, with the '79 flag passed from one team to the other. Some stretches are harder than others, and some stretches will be hiked at night. The overall pace will be moderate/brisk. The '79 Flag Relay is a Big Tent, and we encourage all reasonably fit classmates to consider participating. So get a friend, or plan to come by yourself, and sign up.
It is very important that you contact Peter Greulich '79 (petergreulich@comcast.net) if you are interested. Peter can assist with information, helping you pick a hike segment, letting you know who is participating, and reserving a bunk for you for Monday night. In the event no more bunks are available when you register, you may make your own reservation at Moosilauke by calling (603) 646-6543 before April 15. From April 15 through April 27 they will not be taking any reservations due to a staff training program. Beginning April 28 call (603) 764-5858.
We will start to finalize relay teams two months prior to the event. At the conclusion of the relay, some classmates may head north to classmate Doug Arion's house for his stargazing event.
On-campus (dorm) housing will not be available until Thursday night, June 18, so participants will need to plan lodging accordingly.

Nominated for the Outer Critics Circle and Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Solo Performance and winner of the Audelco Award, Feeding the Dragon has been published by Oberon Books and is available as an Audible Theater recording.
