March 20, 2009, Conference Call

Participants: John Mathias, Cheryl Bascomb, David Spalding, John Engelman, Ron Harris, Kaitlin Jaxheimer, Otho Kerr
Proxy: Marian Baldauf to John Mathias
Absent: Doug Keare, Veree Brown, Ron Schram

1. Ron Harris moved the approval of the minutes of the January 16, 2009, meeting. John Engelman seconded the motion. It was unanimously approved.

2. David Spalding reported that the Balloting Committee had decided that a secretary pro tem should be appointed for this election since all of the current officers are running for re-election and all of us voted to support the constitution. The secretary pro tem is a nonvoting member of the Balloting Committee and the position is not required in a non-trustee election year, but it has been used in past non-trustee election years. The role of this secretary pro tem would only be to observe the ballot count for this year's election.

Two candidates were discussed: Bob Wilkinson '50 and Bruce Jolly '65. Both are former AoA officers. It was agreed that they are both very qualified for the position. Bob Wilkinson lives closer and is semi-retired, so the sense was that he would be the right choice for this task. John Engelman moved that Bob Wilkinson be named secretary pro tem for the 2009 Association of Alumni election. Cheryl Bascomb seconded the motion. It was unanimously approved.

3. The annual meeting of the Association of Alumni will be at 11:00 a.m. on May 9, 2009 in Filene Auditorium. The agenda for the meeting was discussed. It was decided to follow the order of business presented in article VI of the Association of Alumni constitution.

Respectfully submitted,

David Spalding
Secretary-Treasurer
Association of Alumni
