After more than a year of forced distance brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Dartmouth alumni and their families returned to Hanover for 2022 Reunions to reconnect with classmates, friends, and faculty.  They also celebrated this year's three milestone 50th anniversaries of becoming fully coeducational, recommitting to educating and supporting indigenous students by establishing the Department of Native American and Indigenous Studies and the Native American Program, and founding the Black Alumni of Dartmouth Association (BADA).

"The past 18 months have been extremely challenging for everyone," says President Philip J. Hanlon ’77. “This year, our first priority will be to renew our relationships with one another and the Dartmouth we know and love, mark the transformative milestones that shaped who we are today, and celebrate the resilience and spirited curiosity that will define who we are tomorrow. We are coming back, we are re-opening—and we want you to come home to Dartmouth.”

More than three thousand Dartmouth alumni and guests visited Hanover during the 2022 reunion season, which spanned June through mid-July. And though the pandemic is still having an effect on travel, those who attended reported having a wonderful time reconnecting with others and celebrating all things Dartmouth.

“It was an honor and pleasure to both witness and be a part of this extraordinary and powerful event marking 50 years of extraordinary—if sometimes tumultuous—change at Dartmouth. I spoke with a number of fellow alumni afterwards who said that they have rarely come away from a Dartmouth event so inspired.”
-Trustee Emeritus Susan Dentzer ’77

The reunion programming was carefully curated and well received by attendees. The events featured two presidential addresses from President Hanlon, covering topics from athletics, the milestone anniversaries, women’s health care, and the exciting announcement of Dartmouth’s President-elect Sian Beilock before the July reunions.

Dartmouth looks forward to seeing more and more alumni returning home to Dartmouth for reunions in the years to come.

The 2022 Reunion season officially ends with three reunions in September for the classes of 1947, 1952, and 1957.
