Dartmouth College Recognizes with Deep Appreciation the Extraordinary Achievements of

Carol E. Davis '82
2019 Newsletter Editor of the Year –  26 Years Out and Older

Over the past year, you produced five Dartmouth Class of 1982 newsletters totaling 80 pages, distributed in print and electronically. Your newsletters featured an engaging combination of classmate news and profiles, updates from your fellow class officers, and creative themed content—from “Dartmouth Sisters” to a “Chat in the Hat” interview between classmates. Each newsletter was chock-full of photos, including a 34-page spread featuring your 35th Reunion, as well as images from mini-reunions, Homecoming, and your class’s service-themed virtual reunion tied to Dartmouth’s Call to Serve. You celebrated your class’s success as Reunion Class of the Year, lifted up class leaders and achievements, and highlighted class projects.

Most notably, you received tremendous positive response for your newsletter dedicated to Dartmouth’s sestercentennial celebration by making it relevant to your own class. You created an amazing timeline in the format of an old-fashioned newspaper spanning Dartmouth’s 250-year history. By combining College milestones with vintage class photos and your own class milestones and memories, this newsletter positioned the Class of 1982 as an integral part of Dartmouth’s history.

In one of your newsletters, you promised to “attempt to convey a sense of the wonder and joy” of your Reunion weekend. Through your newsletters, you have not only attempted, but succeeded, in capturing the community, camaraderie, and history of the Class of 1982.

Carol, it is with the greatest pride and appreciation that the Class Newsletter Editors Association honors you with the 2019 Class Newsletter Editor of the Year award. We celebrate your outstanding work, and we look forward to you sharing your expertise with the rest of the Newsletter Association as its new vice president.
