Dartmouth College Recognizes with Deep Appreciation the Extraordinary Achievements of

Ann Jackman '88
William H. Scherman '34 Award
2018 Class Newsletter Editor of the Year – 26 Years Out and Older

Over the past year, you produced four print and additional electronic versions of your Dartmouth Class of ’88 Newsletter, which strengthened the community of your class and increased engagement between your classmates and the College leading up to your 30th Reunion and beyond.

You packed each issue with photos — both recent and from your college years. You highlighted mini- and micro-reunions and your 88th day of the year virtual reunion. Each edition included news and accomplishments from classmates, class giving appeals, and updates on class projects and initiatives like ’88 Hearts and Hands.

Your newsletter was a galvanizing force in generating excitement for your class’s 30th reunion, with updates from reunion chairs, event details, and a “guess who’s coming to reunion” feature. You also reunited various groups on paper, featuring FSPs, freshmen trips, residence halls, Greek houses, and the class band in newsletters leading up to the reunion. This brought new participants to your newsletter and even inspired one group to gather at the 30th reunion. This supported your goal to prioritize mentions of new classmates. Over the past year, your newsletters mentioned 222 classmates (about 22 percent of your class). As you share in your class activities report, this inclusive effort inspired some ’88s to attend their first reunion ever, contributing to your record-breaking reunion attendance. We know your thoughtful goals as your class’s fun, hat-wearing editor will ensure continued success for your newsletter and your class in the years ahead.

Ann, it is with the greatest pride that the Class Newsletter Editors Association honors you with the 2018 Class Newsletter Editor of the Year Award.
