Alexandra B. Pattillo ’17
William H. Scherman ’34 Award
2018 Class Newsletter Co-Editor of the Year – 25 Years Out and Younger

This past year, you and your co-editor produced 22 beautiful pages of Evergreen, the Class of 2017 newsletter, to kick off your first year as alumni of the College.

In keeping with the preferences and reading habits of your classmates, you distributed the newsletter electronically and featured engaging and varied graphic layouts and classmate photos. Interviews with two classmates on their post-Dartmouth adventures provide a personal and class-specific depth to the content, while shorter pieces like “What to do Post Grad: Advice from Alumni” address questions particularly relevant to your cohort. Your broad question to encourage classmates to write in with their post-graduate surprises via a TinyURL link provides an easy and inviting way for folks to participate in future issues.

The newsletter is also particularly effective at introducing the common elements of Dartmouth Alumni life: introducing class officers and the class website, providing contacts and defining roles for classmates to get more involved with the Class, and explaining how to pay dues and what dues pay for. The extent to which your class has already organized around the alumni best practices is truly impressive.

Ali, it is with the greatest pride that the Class Newsletter Editors Association honors you with the 2018 Class Newsletter Editor of the Year Award.
