“During winter term I find myself indoors a lot more than other terms. Since my favorite place to be is out in the forest, I always try to make an effort to take study breaks—even if it is incredibly cold outside—and bring my camera with me. This photo was taken on a cold morning walk in Pine Park, right after a snowstorm. I was struck by the textures present in the landscape, which I think are accentuated by the lack of vibrant color. The reflections in the water and drifting chunks of ice made for a relaxing scene that took my mind off of school-related stress.”
“Fall is my favorite season in Hanover. The trees transform throughout the term, and I witness many changing natural features within our small town. I love biking along the Connecticut River at sunset and watching the golden light hit the yellowed, deciduous trees along the west bank. This photo was a product of perfect timing, with the last sliver of sunset catching the trees as the rowing team passed by my lookout spot on the shore. Ultimately, it created one of my favorite photos from my time at Dartmouth.”
“I took the picture of the Tower Room in Baker because it is one of the most iconic spaces at Dartmouth. It’s a place that makes me feel proud to be part of the College, and I often go there to work or simply reflect. To me, it captures both the tradition and sense of community that define Dartmouth.”
“This photo is of Baker's tower, taken from inside Fairchild. I often use Fairchild as a study spot, and I’ve always loved the view of the tower from there. It’s one of the most stunning views on campus, and it will never get old.”
“As an international student, I didn't have an appreciation for the game of football before I attended Dartmouth. The Homecoming Football game happened to take place the same day as my friend's birthday, and he convinced me to go with him. I was pleasantly surprised when a band appeared playing at the start of the game. I took this photo to capture the moment.”
“The bonfire in 2024 was extra special to me, because I spent the evening with all my recently graduated friends who returned to campus to celebrate. As we stood there looking at the fire, I remembered that during my first homecoming in my freshman year, I thought it was the craziest tradition. Now, watching it crackle, I was much more focused on the warmth of it, surrounded by the friends I made along the way, and took this picture to capture that feeling.”
