What Makes a Good Reunion Web Site?

The basics of good Reunion Web site content

Remember, you have enough space to put as much information as you want to, so don't hold back! Information to include:

  • A list of the members of the Class Reunion committee and their contact information so that attendees can ask any questions they may have.
  • Surveys of your Classmates' opinions on what has gone well in the past and what they would like to see happen in the future.
  • Schedule of the events you have planned for your Reunion.
  • Registration form that can be processed online.
  • Online credit card payment service. You can use PayPal to allow credit card transactions, though you will need to sign up for a PayPal account in order to enter your credit card information. You can even have a direct link: www.paypal.com
  • An indication of the importance of collecting the numbers on the back of the mail-in registration card either above or within the signature area
  • Dorm information
  • A listing of many area hotels -- see the list on the Reunion home page on the Alumni Relations site.
  • A list of who is attending, both of confirmed classmates and special guests. Alumni like to know who will be coming, and it might help enrollments.
  • Virtual reunion: photos and/or videos of previous events so that classmates can see what has happened in the past and what will be going on at the upcoming reunion. Also, try to film upcoming events so that they can be put on website afterwards.
  • Reunion book – Information about the current lives of your classmates.
  • In memoriam page
  • Statistics page to measure if website improves attendance
  • Audio messages to your classmates. For an example, see: www.dartmouth.org/classes/76/OdysseyAudios.htm
  • Commencement information http://www.dartmouth.edu/~commence/ This includes live broadcasts, weather update, and schedule
  • Reunion gift information — people often forget why such a gift is made. Remind them!

An attendance list is a necessity for planning, but it also builds excitement as your classmates wonder who's going to Hanover.

After your reunion, your site will be a great way for your classmates to remember the fun you shared in Hanover. So be sure to take photos and keep attendance records. Your classmates want to know!
