Meet Ivie, a senior from Chicago studying Film and Media Studies modified with African American Studies. What she'll miss most about Dartmouth isn't a class or a campus landmark — it's the people.
Ivie has made the most of her four years here, serving as a Student Initiatives Fellow at the Hopkins Center for the Arts, a marketing intern at the Center for Career Design, and a co-chair for the Class of 2026 Dartmouth College Fund. But what she treasures is the community woven through it all — a campus where she can't walk anywhere without spotting a familiar face, and an alumni network so generous that nearly everyone she meets offers to hop on a call or answer her questions. Those connections have done more than open doors. They've shown Ivie the kind of alum she wants to become — one who picks up the phone for the next student, and keeps the legacy going.

Hello, my name is Ivie, and I'm a '26. I'm originally from Chicago, and I'm studying film and media studies modified with African American studies. At Dartmouth, I am a student initiatives fellow at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. I'm also a marketing intern at the Center for Career Design, and I am a co-chair for the class of 2026 Dartmouth College Fund.
So one of the things I'm going to miss the most about Dartmouth is definitely living with a community of all of my friends. I'm really going to miss just walking literally anywhere and always seeing at least five people that I know anywhere I go on campus, and I just really love that experience and that community feeling. I feel like I'm going to really miss that when I leave and go out into the real world.
Every single time that I interact with an alumni, whether it be through email, through a Zoom call, or meeting them on campus, I always have such a very extremely positive experience, and they're always really willing to help. So that just motivates me even further to follow up and continue reaching out because we have such a strong alumni network here. Every single person I meet, they're always like, "Oh, hit me up if you ever have any questions. We want to do a Zoom call." And I take them up on those offers. And I really, really appreciate.
That's one of my favorite things about Dartmouth is just our alumni network here. And I'm excited when I become an alum to help.
