In Pursuit of Excellence

Dartmouth College Recognizes with Deep Appreciation the Extraordinary Achievements of

Ashley Donnenfeld Shackelton ’05

2016 President of the Year
25 Years Out and Younger

From the time that she started as a student, Ashley has made her mark at Dartmouth. A psychology major, she graduated with cum laude honors, was a passionate member of Kappa Delta Epsilon sorority, and was one of a select few to be chosen as a Presidential Scholar.

After beginning her career in finance at UBS Wealth Management, Ashley earned an MBA in marketing at New York University’s Stern School of Business. The year 2010 was an especially busy one for Ashley — she graduated from business school, started a new job in brand management at Novartis, and, most importantly, married her husband, Christopher. Speaking of busy, Ashley and Christopher have three daughters, all under the age of five.

For the great class of 2005, Ashley has been indispensable, serving as a Dartmouth College Fund agent, including head agent for the Class of 2005’s 10th reunion, and as the elected class president since her last reunion. Since taking over this role, Ashley has already accomplished a great deal! In addition to filling every volunteer role, she has designed additional roles that help to energize her class in unique and meaningful ways, including Day of Service mini-reunion coordinators and two ’05/’15 mentorship program chairs. Ashley has also served as an admissions interviewer and on the Young Alumni Advisory Board for the Dartmouth College Fund.

With Ashley at the helm, the class received special recognition last year for outstanding engagement, mentorship and collaboration - a testament to her visionary leadership.

Fellow 2005 class volunteer and College trustee Caroline Kerr shares that “Ashley’s leadership is defined by a deep commitment to service. She’s humble, organized, and possesses a keen ability to draw out the talents of her team. She generates ideas and couples them with ways of pulling others into the process. Ashley is quick to seek input and even faster at sharing praise and celebrating the accomplishments of others. She’s a pleasure to work with and the experience of collaborating with Ashley often draws others into further levels of engagement.”

Ashley’s team-oriented attitude, kind style, and unwavering dedication to her class highlight the best of what a president can be. It is with great pride that the Class Officers Association Executive Board honors Ashley with the 2016 Class President of the Year Award.
