The work of 13 alumni artists will be celebrated during Alumni in the Arts Biennial Exhibition 2015, opening at 6 p.m. on January 10 at the Top of the Hop and the Nearburg Gallery and running through April 30, 2015. The first alumni arts exhibition was held in the fall of 2012.

“I would’ve killed to see this when I was a student,” says Brice Brown ’95, co-curator of the exhibit and a New York City-based artist. “A lot of students don’t know how you can be an artist—this exhibition shows that it’s a possibility.”

The artistic works on display represent various mediums including painting, photography, sculpture, video, book arts, drawing, and sound works.

“In the art world more people are experimenting with a range of new mediums, including sound and video, and we wanted to reflect that, as well as more traditional art forms,” says Enrico Riley ’95, associate professor of studio art, a 2008 Guggenheim Fellow, and co-curator of the exhibition.

During the January 10 opening, artist Gisela Insuaste ’97 will perform Mapeando, an interactive, process-based live installation. Later in the winter and spring terms, Torin Porter ‘93 and Anna Schuleit Haber, MALS ’05 will offer additional performances.
