Our Traveler Testimonials

Our trip to Tanzania was truly magical! Traveling with a group of Dartmouth women was a unique and amazing experience. Smart and strong . . .  The itinerary was a perfect combination of people, place, and animals . . . The guides were outstanding and the accommodations and logistics were just first rate. But really it was the group that made it special. —Julie Sudikoff Weisman, Women of Tanzania

Our group ranged from a 91-year-old to a Class of 2000 graduate, to a 14-year-old. So it really did feel like we were a family. After one of my talks, an alum said it was clear to him that I hear music differently from how he hears music. I told him that also, after the trip, he would hear music differently from how he heard it before the trip. I certainly do.
—Steve Swayne, Associate Professor of Music, The Danube's Enchanted Valleys and Festivals of Music

We're amazed at how much we covered. Having Professor Roger Ulrich along was inspiring. He was a terrific lecturer and enthusiastic sharer of insights. He and his wife were a delight.  We had a truly wonderful experience and feel indebted to you. —Jack Morris '53 and Lu Morris, Sicily: The Cultural Season

Slovenia is beautiful, from alpine mountains to charming coastal towns. I enjoyed the opportunity to think about the mathematics of things such as limestone caves. My fellow travelers and I spent an hour developing a model of calcium movement through porous rock and seeing whether it would predict the formation of a stalactite . . .  Why should our education ever end? —Dorothy Wallace, Professor of Mathematics, Alumni Campus in the Adriatic

We enjoyed Mary Jean and Ron Green so much, and I think our "boatload" was most congenial. AHI certainly is the Cadillac and we enjoyed every minute of being spoiled. A ccommodations, cuisine, guides, and staff were THE BEST. —Claire Macfarlane and Noble Macfarlane '49, Cotes du Rhone

I'm just back from Dartmouth Alumni Travel trip to the nothern region of Italyit was  excellent; I recommend it to all! Professor Dorothy Wallace was excellent in three lectures and had us put on a play about Galileo that was a smashing hit.  —Paul Caravatt '45, Italian Lakes District

I had eagerly anticipated the wonders and wildlife of the Amazon, the exposure to a radically new environment, and an opportunity to spend time with my wife (OK, that's a little personal). What I hadn't expected was that I'd meet a group of people whose company I greatly enjoyed and who would enrich my entire experience! —Arlo Frost '78, Amazon River Journey

I was fortunate to travel with this group because a dear friend is the mother of Dartmouth graduates and a former employee of the college. Professor Lenore Grenoble and her husband did an outstanding job coordinating a delightful group of people representing Dartmouth. They went beyond the call of duty, and the Dartmouth contingent had a marvelous experience.  —Richard McCrary, Ukraine and Romania Aboard the MS Dnieper

Thanks so much to Professor Swayne for remembering to send me the neat list classifying  Mozart's
operas. It'll be handy for the opera classes I take at GMU Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. I thoroughly enjoyed his lectures on the trip! He is a credit to Dartmouth. Kathleen Meyer '78, The Danube's Enchanted Valleys and Festivals of Music
