New York City
Wednesday, April 22, 2015
Borough of Manhattan Community College

Join fellow alumni on April 22 at the Borough of Manhattan Community College for a presentation by Michael Arad ’91, architect of the National September 11 Memorial, and Jan Seidler Ramirez ’73, chief curator and vice president of collections for the National September 11 Memorial Museum. Following the presentation, alumni will have the opportunity for a late-entry visit to the Memorial Museum.

Arad’s “Reflecting Absence” submission for the design of the memorial at the World Trade Center site was selected from more than 5,000 entries from around the world. In 2012, Arad was awarded the AIA Presidential Citation for his work on the National September 11 Memorial. He is a partner in the firm of Handel Architects.

Ramirez was appointed curator of the Memorial Museum in 2006. Under her guidance, the institution’s collection has grown to include thousands of objects, artworks, photographs, films, and other materials relevant to September 11, 2001. In her career Ramirez has also served as vice president and museum director at the New-York Historical Society.
