Palm Beach Gardens, FL

The 2016 presidential election is now less than a year away. Campaigns are in full swing, but the nonstop news cycle often focuses on style rather than substance. Join Dartmouth professors and fellow alumni for a daylong immersion in the policy issues that will shape the 2016 election. Learn to look past media hype and understand the economic, social, and cultural factors influencing the debate, as well as the pressing foreign-policy issues our country faces. You will leave energized by conversation with fellow alumni and friends and ready to make an informed decision in the polling booth.

Our bipartisan program will include lectures, both in-person and via Skype, from Dartmouth’s experts on the myriad issues faced by the United States nationally and globally. Learn about domestic issues with Charles Wheelan ’88, a senior lecturer in public policy at Dartmouth’s Rockefeller Center and the founder of the Centrist Project; what political science can and can't tell us about the election with Brendan Nyhan, assistant professor of government; women in politics with Linda Fowler, professor of government; and foreign policy and global security with Daniel Benjamin, director of the Dickey Center for International Understanding and former ambassador-at-large and coordinator for counterterrorism at the United States State Department.

We will also be joined via Skype by the Honorable Judd Gregg, a New Hampshire Republican who served as a U.S. Senator (1993–2011), governor of New Hampshire (1989–93), and a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (1981–89).

The lunch conversation will be with Amanda Brown ’07. The executive director at the National Women’s Business Council, Amanda Brown served as the national political director of Rock the Vote from 2011–2014.
