Cecilia Gaposchkin

Dean Lacy is a professor of government at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. His research and teaching focus on lawmaking, elections, public opinion, the presidency, and political leadership, particularly in the United States. He also uses and teaches research methods such as game theory, experiments, and statistics.

Professor Lacy has written and lectured on topics such as the sources of instability in public opinion polls, third-party candidates in elections, the effectiveness of economic sanctions in international relations, and designing optimal electoral rules.

He is the director of the Politics and Law Program at Dartmouth College and the advisor to the Dartmouth Political Union.

11–11:30 am: Break
11:30 am–1 pm: "Taxing, Spending, Red States, and Blue States: Why Congress and the President Can’t Balance a Budget"
