2014 Class Webmaster of the Year
Non-iModules Website

A content- and feature-rich website remains a key component of an alumni class's overall classmate engagement strategy. As classes select the latest tools available with which to build a class website, the choices have fallen into two categories: iModules and everything else.

This citation honors the best of "everything else" by recognizing the Class of 1985 website and its webmaster, Jeffrey Weitzman'85.

During the past eighteen months, the Class of 1985 took on the challenge of re-envisioning its overall class communications tool set. The challenge: to improve communication while reducing the redundancy inherent in a multipath strategy.

Who better to deploy the web presence portion of this re-envisioned class communication strategy than you, Jeff? You have applied the rigor of your philosophy degree and the hands-on practicality you have developed in your career driving technology start-ups to success to design a website perfectly balanced in style and substance. Your passion for excellence is evident in the portfolio of technology companies you have founded and led. You have been described by your Class President as having the ideal combination of great "attitude and aptitude." Your class is fortunate to have you as a resource, and the results of your efforts are clearly evident in your class's website.

Two words can describe the professional-looking Class of 1985's WordPress site: "clean" and "current." Visitors are greeted with a header slide show of photos old and new. (Love those classic snow sculptures!) The appealing home page features blog-style news and classmate updates. Header menus lead the visitor to archives, photo galleries, and class reference material. Links to Facebook and LinkedIn lead to more current classmate news. Online dues payment, a "Green Card" submittal form, and site-wide keyword search are just three of the many features that all class websites should have.

Clean and current. Rich in content. Helpful online tools and resources. That's the Class of 1985 website.

Jeff, your contribution to your class, to the Dartmouth Class Webmasters Association, and to Dartmouth College are greatly appreciated. We congratulate you on being named 2014 Class Webmaster of the Year.
