More than 4,000 people, including alumni, family, and guests, will be on campus this June for 2014 Reunions. Twelve classes—from 1954 to 2009—will gather from June 6 through June 15.
Keeping with tradition, members of the Class of 1964, this year’s 50th anniversary class, will march with the Class of 2014 during Commencement on Sunday, June 8.
“We're thrilled to welcome Dartmouth’s former students back home,” says Martha Beattie ’76, vice president for alumni relations. “It’s a privilege to have alumni from around the world on campus, reuniting with each other as they reconnect to a place that changed our lives.”
Planned by alumni class volunteers and College staff, Reunions include campus tours, Dartmouth Outing Club trips, and talks with Dartmouth professors and alumni leaders in their fields. Many classes will have dinners and receptions on Baker Library lawn and the Connecticut River waterfront. Most important, alumni will have the chance to reminisce with old friends—and make new ones.
Beginning June 12, reunion classes from 1973 to 2009 arrive on campus. The Big Green spirit will be palpable during two all-alumni celebrations on the Green on Saturday, June 14. In the afternoon the band Tweed Funk, featuring J.D. Optekar ’91, ’92Th, will entertain as the crowd enjoys ice cream treats. In the evening, there will be a performance by the Dartmouth Idol All-Stars and pyrotechnics.
Other notable Reunions events include a toast to John Rassias, the William Kenan Professor of French and Italian, and gatherings for the Black Alumni of Dartmouth Association and the Dartmouth Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Alumni/ae Association. The Dartmouth Alumni in Design and Architecture group will have a display of architecture in Hopkins Center for the Arts from June 7–15.
