In addition to countless smiles, handshakes, and hugs during 2015 Dartmouth Reunions, there were also more attendees—4,898—than ever before. This year’s  number surpasses the previous record of 4,607 set in 2006.

From June 11–21, 12 alumni classes—from 1955 to 2010—attended lectures, listened to President Hanlon ’77, viewed exhibits, entertained by an alumnus magician , and enjoyed Dartmouth camaraderie in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

As is tradition, the 50th Reunion Class of 1965 processed in the Commencement ceremony with the Class of 2015, and also dedicated a new bunkhouse at Mt. Moosilauke that will serve future generations of students. The Class of 1990, meanwhile, reunited the former members of a popular campus band for an encore performance, 25 years later.

For the fourth consecutive year, the all-alumni “On the Green!” events drew crowds. Alumni, families, and friends enjoyed ice cream (more than 3,000 treats served!) in the afternoon. They later gathered for a nighttime performance of the Dartmouth Idol All-Stars, with pyrotechnics soaring above Baker Tower, which was especially magical.

Echoing a sentiment expressed by many alumni, Lisa Shanahan ’80, one of three co-chairs of her Reunion, says, “I loved the juxtaposition of activities where we as a class came together to share our memories, accomplishments, and experiences and the quiet moments enjoying old friends one-on-one hiking, biking, canoeing, or just sitting on a bench on the Green.”

Of the “On the Green!” evening event, Shanahan says, “I cannot imagine how anyone left the Green that night not pining for their days as a student at the College on the Hill.”
