the Extraordinary Achievements of

The Class of 1971
Recipient of the 2013-14
Donald C. Smith '53 Award
in Recognition of an Outstanding Mini-Reunion Program

The Mini-Reunion Chairs Association comprises a group of individuals who have generously volunteered their time and energy to represent classmates spanning seven decades and myriad locations around the globe. We all share a tie to the Dartmouth College community and the desire to maintain the bond between our classmates and with the College. The mini-reunion program is designed to sustain those connections--and much more. It strengthens a legendary Dartmouth alumni community that returns every year for Homecoming Weekend, makes its voice heard on campus issues, and provides the critical--and generous--financial support for the many classes to come.

It is therefore our honor and pleasure to recognize and thank the Class of 1971 for an outstanding mini-reunion program during 2013-2014. More than 140 '71s participated in 10 different events in six separate locations, and the Class held two new events during the year: a 71st Day of the Year Virtual Reunion and a 65th Birthday Party in Orlando, Florida. The Class congregated for Homecoming, Carnival, and Carnivail, and in striving to show red, white, and blue as well as green, the America's Cup. Class members also paused to support multiple sclerosis for the third year, honoring a classmate by raising $21,000 through contributions from across the country, which supported a walk-a-thon following a brunch for 20 classmates.

Congratulations on a highly successful year. We look forward to seeing this strong tradition of leadership continue, bringing together Dartmouth classmates and students all across the country.
